Happy Lance Brunious

Lance Brunious is the son of NOLA-based jazz legend Wendell Brunious, the musical director at Preservation Hall. Lance’s grandfather, John “Picket” Brunious, a trumpeter and pianist who studied at Juilliard, arranged for Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, Louis Armstrong and others. Lance’s late great-uncle, Wilfredo Santiago, is reportedly one of the first guitarists ever recorded in American music and played alongside Buddy Bolden, one of the founding fathers of New Orleans ragtime, the precursor to jazz. Lance's uncle, John Brunious Jr., was a virtuoso on trumpet and a former bandleader at Preservation Hall. Lance's cousin, Mark Braud, is also a bandleader at Preservation Hall.
In 2022 Happy Lance Brunious and his band headlined a Juneteenth celebration by the city of St.Paul, MN. Lance also brought his band to perform at TC Veg Fest 2023 at Harriet Island. His band has played at Krewe Restaurant in St.Joseph, MN on several occasions. Some time ago, he had the honor to play with the world-renowned Treme Brass Band on Sundays at D.B.A on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans, lead by Mr. Benny Jones.
Happy Lance Brunious with his band aims to preserve and contribute to his unique heritage tied to the early greats of jazz.
